Mission & Vision

IDENTITY (Who we are)

Crossroads Church is a group of Christ-followers, anchored in the word, empowered by the Spirit, growing in grace, living life together, equipped to generously serve and prayerfully pursue the lost.

VISION (Why we exist)

Crossroads Church Napoleon exists to help lost people get found and found people experience increasing freedom in Jesus Christ. (Mt. 28:19-20; Lk 19:10)

MISSION (how we get there)

Crossroads will help lost people get found and found people live free by equipping people to connect relationally, grow spiritually, and engage in Christ’s mission.

These CORE VALUES will guide us:

  1. WORD & SPIRIT: We value relationship with the Spirit, anchored in the Word over religious rules and empty tradition.

Anchor verse: (Mat. 22:29) Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

The Bible is our authoritative guide for living (2 Tim 3:16-17). As such, we won’t just listen to relevant teachings from the Word but will seek to order our lives around the Word and do what it says empowered by the Holy Spirit daily in our interactions with those inside and outside of the Church (Jm. 1:22). Our God speaks and so we will work to recognize and respond to the voice of God as a natural part of being in relationship with Him.

Demonstrated by:

  • Training people to walk in the gifts of The Spirit and the wisdom of The Word.
  • Intentionally creating time and space for God to speak and act.
  • Proclaiming God’s Word in an atmosphere of expectation of God’s authenticating work.

Mark 16:20; 1 Cor. 14:1; 1 Cor. 4:20; 1 Thess. 1:4-5; 1 Cor. 2:4-5; 1 Cor. 12:7-10

  1. GRACE: We value growing in grace over perfect religious rule following.

Anchor Verse: Rom. 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Jesus welcomes and accepts everyone right where they are, but He loves us too much to ever leave us there! In light of this, we are committed to celebrating God’s grace as well as fostering an environment where we can be open and honest about our shortcomings, struggles, sin and need for Jesus! We believe in process, not perfection and welcome everyone to bring their mess and begin the process with Jesus. We will expect those who are forgiven by grace to walk in the increasing freedom of grace!

Demonstrated by:

  • Teaching our people the practice of daily confession and living in the reality of Christ’s forgiveness and victory.
  • Encouraging our people to live in healthy, accountable relationships with others.
  • Helping our people renew their minds through daily Bible reflection.
  • Training people to recognize and conquer spiritual strongholds.

  1. LIFE TOGETHER: We value connection over isolation.

Anchor Verse: Heb. 10:24-25 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Community happens better in circles rather than rows.We believe that spiritual growth happens best in caring relationships where people fully engage in Christian community life that encourages, challenges, prays for and serves together. We believe that bonding beyond Sunday morning is vital to our spiritual development as disciples of Jesus. If you love Jesus, we believe you will also love to do life with His Church. Our hope and goal is that you will find a Connect Group to join and develop some “fridge friends” here within the Crossroads Family.

Demonstrated by:

  • Creating authentic, compelling community life centered around local church relationships.
  • Calling all Crossroads people to ruggedly commit to live with one another and for one another so that we all begin to look more like Jesus.
  • Making spiritual talk a normal part of our conversations.
  • Encouraging people to regularly involve church family in our lives (weddings, sporting events, bbqs, camping trips, meals etc…) (practicing hospitality)
  • Encouraging people to study the Bible and other spiritual books together.

Eph. 4:15, Rom. 12:13; 3 John 8; Gal. 6:1-2, 10; John 13:35; 1 Cor. 5:4-5; Heb. 1023-25

  1. EQUIPPED & EMPOWERED PEOPLE: We value training people over running programs

Anchor Verse: 1 Pt. 4:10 “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

The greatest resources in God’s Kingdom are His people! When God’s people are equipped to proclaim Christ’s forgiveness and freedom through a gospel presence in their workplaces, neighborhoods and families, the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church and the surrounding communities will flourish. So, we will seek to train up and equip Christ-followers to use their gifts and live like Jesus as lights in the world while maintaining their saltiness for the world (Mt. 5:13-16)!

Demonstrated by:

  • Equipping people to do what Jesus did.
  • Offering frequent opportunities for people to explore and discover their spiritual gifts.
  • Growing leaders and giving away ministry at every opportunity.

Exodus 18:21; Romans 12:3-6; Eph. 4:11-16; John 14:12; 2 Timothy 1:6

  1. GENEROUS SERVICE: We value sacrificial giving over selfish taking

Anchor Verse: Hebrews 13:16 “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

In a world of consumerism, we believe that the Church should be filled with contributors rather than consumers. We believe that if one person isn’t contributing, the Church is missing out! This means we need you and your specific contribution. We need you to invest your gifts, time and resources and so does our greater community! To this end, we will strive to be a “how-can-I-help-people,” and we will work hard to be an asset to the communities in which we live.

Demonstrated by:

  • Teaching regularly of the importance of generosity and service, including teaching the tithe.
  • Training our people in good stewardship, financial practices, and time management
  • Constantly inviting our people to serve by giving of their time, talents and treasure.

Eph. 4:16; 1 John 3:16-18; Mt. 6:19-21, 24, 25:35-40; Mal. 3:10-12; 1 Pt. 4:10; Gal. 5:13; Mark 9:35, 10:45; Col. 3:23-24; Heb. 6:1; Act. 20:35

  1. Prayerful Pursuit: We value prayerfully pursuing the lost over making people into projects.

Anchor Verse: Rom. 10:14-15 “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

We will commit to always be in prayer for at least one more lost person to pursue them as prompted by the Spirit with grace and love. We will exercise courage to pray for people in the moment. Our hope and desire is that all will come to repentance and a knowledge of the love of God, but regardless of where they stand in relationship with Jesus, we will love them and befriend them, being bold and honest about our faith, while not being pushy or beating them up with the Bible.

Demonstrated by:

  • Using our facility to host warm and welcoming gatherings and ministries that people can’t resist attending.
  • Building intentional friendships with people that don’t know Jesus.
  • Exercising courage to pray for people in the moment.
  • Inviting as many people as we can to join us.
