"Gather the people to me, that I may let them hear my words, so that they may learn to fear me all the days that they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children so." Deuteronomy 4:10 ESV
"1 All the people assembled with a unified purpose at the square just inside the Water Gate. They asked Ezra the scribe to bring out the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord had given for Israel to obey. 8 They read from the Book of the Law of God and clearly explained the meaning of what was being read, helping the people understand each passage." - Nehemiah 8:1;8
"And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near." - Hebrews 10:25
Hey there, I just got back from Cleveland where I attended the Basics Conference for pastors (you can watch the sessions if you're interested by clicking the link). I was reminded of the importance of coming together regularly to hear God's word read and explained. Al Mohler reminded us from the Old Testament that this has been God's plan and pattern through the ages. He has spoken to us in His word and intends that we gather regular to hear His word and have it explained. Mohler went so far as to say that "the preaching of God's word is the only survival strategy we've got in this secular age!"
There are a lot of things you could do this Sunday, but none is more important or has more eternal value than gathering with fellow believers to hear what your God has said to you! Let's not take for granted that we have a God who "let's us hear His words!"
See you Sunday! -Levi
